Contribution to the public consultation on Smart Readiness Indicators

The new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive outlines measures to establish an optional scheme for rating the smart readiness of buildings. The Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) will be used to measure the capacity of buildings to use information and communication technologies and electronic systems to better suit the needs of occupants and the grid, and improve energy efficiency and overall performance of buildings. As the European Commission is currently developing this new instrument, ECFD submitted its opinion on the best way to maximise the added value of the new tool, having in mind the interest of European consumers.
